Cumann na mBunscol mini 7s CHAMPIONS 2022/2023 !!!

Picture

Lurga played Mountbellew NS in the first match and won 3.12 to 4 points with great goals from Cian and Danny and great performances from Luke, Fiachra and Cian.
Our second Match v Gael Scoil Daragh - we won comprehensively 4.11 to 2 points with great performances from Iarlaith, Donncha, Theo and Eoghan. Thereby we qualified to the semi final to play Carnmore and won by 2.9 to 1.3 with goals from Cian and Evan and great performances from both boys.

In the Final we played against Duniry NS and after a poor start we got on top through outstanding performances from Donncha, Mark and Iarlaith at the back and Theo and Cian further up the field eventually winning by 3.5 to 5 points.

Great teamwork and a never say die attitude were hallmarks of the Team.  Massively supported by Pat Loughnane and Finbar Gantley  and managed astutely by Ms Lundon Scanlon and Mrs Moroney, and roared on by their small band of loyal supporters.
Heartbreak for Bobby Walsh who couldn't play on the day and for Morgan Waterhouse and Eoin Scanlon who were overage but encouraged the team for every step of play.  Also special mention to our neighbouring school Lough Cultra's students, teachers and parents, who stay on to roar support to our boys.  A massive achievement to have come out top in a competition played by all schools in Galway.

The Team consisted of Donncha Glynn, Iarlaith Veale, Mark Fahy, Theo Gantley, Evan Gantley, Cian Loughnane, Fiachra Connolly
Eoghan Kirrane, Luke Foster, Danny Gantley

Primary School Cross Country

Such is the demand in Lurga for a coveted place in the team to represent Lurga National School at the primary schools cross country that trials were held.  The dedication and standard of all who took part was evident to see.  Well done to everyone who tried out.

On both occasions in Renmore the athletes put everything into trying to get a medal and a very highly sought after place in the Connacht Final.  We are all so proud of you all.  Congratulations to
