The fun and excitement today as numerous hotels for bugs were created and placed throughout the school gardens.

Our School Tour

The excitement started from the minute the bus pulled up where it was a first for some of the Juniors and Seniors to get on a bus, the joy on their little faces just priceless.  Off to Turoe Pet Farm where the day continued to "The Best Ever".  The children were complemented on how well mannered and well behaved they were.  Well done to everyone involved at Turoe for making it a day to remember and to Ms Roche and Susanne.

During the 2018-2019 school year, the children from Lurga took part in lots of different competitions, gradings and shows. The children won lots of medals, cups, rosettes, certificates and even a belt in a wide range of sports and activities such as hurling, soccer, swimming, jiu-jitsu, tennis, taekwondo, Irish dancing, horse-riding and handwriting. All the teachers are very proud of these wonderful talents and achievements and a special assembly was held to celebrate them.

Hurling Blitz

Juniors, Seniors,  1st and 2nd Class travelled to Kilbeacanty National School to take part in a Hurling Blitz. There were three schools present; Lurga, Kilbeacanty and Lough Cutra. The boys and girls were divided up into teams and took part in lots of games. There was a fantastic display of hurling skills on show and everyone had a great day.

These girls are very proud of their  artistic
creations

The children have been learning about a number of topics since September., including The Farm, The Restaurant,The Pet Shop, The Dentist, the Post Office and of course Christmas. The children rotate from station to station where they explore the topics  and experience high quality learning through  play.

We were very grateful to Donal and Karen who told us about the work of the vet and  about pet care.  Dakota was a big hit with everyone!

Aistear

The Dental Clinic proved to be very popular. Here, the dentist is demonstrating good dental hygiene to a reluctant patient!

A visit to the dentist can be fun

In November it was time to learn about the Post Office

And so this is Christmas!
